Beat the Bounds commemoration poster

This file consists of a poster commemorating the Beat the Bounds events on 15 Mar 1981. The poster consists of a scroll to Hugo C. Engler, signed by Mayor Richard Fowler. Hugo C. Engler was the photographer who captured the event on film. The scroll reads: "Be it Known that on March 15 in the year of the Lord 1981 Hugo C. Engler joined with other citizens of the City of St. Albert in a demonstration of support for the City of St. Albert and did Beat the Bounds as a show of public concern against the threat of annexation." There are 16 colour photographs pasted around the scroll, depicting various people and activities during the Beat the Bounds event.

On the back of the poster is a label that reads: "Presented to the City of St. Albert in Remembrance of Beating the Bounds March 15, 1981. A Ceremony to recognize the importance of boundaries to society and in particular to the Citizens of St. Albert. Presented by G.K. Allred, A.L.S. (Alderman City of St. Albert 1980- 86), Executive Director, Alberta Land Surveyors' Association."

A note taped to the front of the box the photo was donated in reads "2013 Jan 17, Thurs. S.R. [Loumis] notes. Re: This 'Post' (St. Albert photographer) took this aerial photo of the east end of Big Lake, 'circa'. 1998?? Bob Russell undertook to have it framed. Bob returned it to BLESS at the AGM @ the Rugby Club Jan. 17, 2013. THe photo should be on display publicly 'somewhere' appropriate but for the time being store at the log cabin for safe keeping."
