The service was held on Easter Sunday with Reverend Dr. Villett, Principal of Alberta College (shown left) and the representative of the United Church Presbytery (right) with Lois Hole as organist.

Front: adopted son of Leo Bellerive, Marcel (died at 21 years). John Morasse was the first one to come west ca. 1880, settled in St. Albert, never married.

Astoria Hotel

Image shows the Astoria Hotel with people and horse-drawn buggies in the foreground. The hotel was built in 1890 by Gedeon and Xavier Bellisle; owned by Ernest Renaud and operated by his brother-in-law, Lucien Boudreau. It was later operated by J.A. Harnois and Elzear Letourneau. The hotel burned down in 1911.

Louis Chevigny

Head and shoulders portrait of Louis Chevigny. He was born in Quebec in 1847, married Josephine Arcand, came west in 1870. He was the toll bridge keeper in 1881, worked for the Mission, hauled freight from Winnipeg, and homesteaded 2 miles north of St. Albert. In 1885, he built the St. Albert Hotel.

Image shows the house on the Chévigny homestead (about 2 miles north of St. Albert) built ca. 1890. In front of the house: Louis and Josephine Chevigny, Joe Arcand, Marie Louise, Victoria, Francois, Olivine, Alfred Arcane, Bernadette and daughter. In the buggies: Moise and friend; David, Josephine, and Laura.

This house was restored by the Arts and Heritage Foundation of St. Albert in 2020, and currently sits on River Lot 23 in St. Albert.
