Celebrate the Spirit binder file

This file consists of the contents of a binder entitled "Celebrate the Spirit: Your guide to community events in celebration of the Olympic torch relay" distributed by the Government of Canada to the committee in St. Albert. It includes guides to organizing events and additional correspondence and documents added by the Olympic torch committee.

Official guides and documents file

This file consists of a guide from the national Olympic Torch Relay Celebration Committee; a guide of the “Role of Members of Parliament in the Celebration 88 Program and the Olympic Torch Relay”; an agreement signed between the Canadian Olympic Association and Margaret Plain for use of logos; and explanation of Celebration 88 certification program’s terms and conditions; a guide for the proper use of Celebration 88 logo by celebration committees; Olympic Torch relay ceremony form completion instructions and the filled out forms.

Olympic Flame Ceremony recording

The tape features a 20-minute video of the Olympic Flame Ceremony held in St. Albert on February 10, 1988 outside of St. Albert Place. It features Master of Ceremonies: Jim Hunter, a choir of PetroCan choral singers and an 80-year old Torch carrier; a 101-year old carried it later in the day.

This file consists of a list of committee members, Olympic Torch Relay ceremony structure and schedule, a map of the Torch relay across Canada, a timeline of events from February 13-28, 1988 in St. Albert to countdown to the Olympics, a list of names of people involved such as sponsors, coaches, and athletes.

This file consists of promotional handouts and invitations for events related to the Olympic torch relay celebration, thank-you cards, brochures, a copy of a speech by Honourable Otto Jelinek at the Celebration 88 Launch at Edmonton City Hall on June 11, 1987, the music sheet for “Share the Flame” song, awards program nomination forms, official program for the St. Albert Olympic torch ceremonies and schedule, two official Celebration 88 bulletins from the Government of Canada one in French and one in English, and three stickers “The Government of Canada, a proud Olympic partner. Canada, Celebration 88.”
