Dossier 2017.39.01 - John Turnbull postcard and photograph

File consists of a postcard from John Turnbull to Eileen Fleck with a photograph of Turnbull standing beside a Cessna plane with the words: "1941, Best Wishes for a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Sgt. Pilot Turnbull, J.J., No. 31 G.R. School, Charlottetown, P.E.I." There is also a photograph of the Cessna plane, handwritten on the back of the photograph are the words: "'Cessna', the [ship] I am now training on." Eileen Fleck wrote a note to accompany the photo and postcard: "Mr. and Mrs. Fred Turnbull hired on a farm just north of where Erin Ridge is today. They had 2 sons, John and Bill. John came to school in St. Albert for a couple of years. He joined the Air Force and went overseas as a Bomber Pilot. These cards and pictures were taken just before he left. He never came back. 'Missing in Action.' Sent in by Eileen (Akins) Fleck. 'Lest We Forget'." File also contains a copy of a Gazette article titled "Gone but not forgotten" written by Susan Jones featuring an interview with Eileen Fleck and more information about the Turnbull and the photographs.
