Scope and content

The letter is from Clementine Spencer-Churchill, Winston Churchill's wife, addressed to the Mayor of St. Albert to thank them for sending her an album of photographs from the naming ceremony of the "Sir Winston Churchill Avenue." The photograph depicts the naming ceremony. An RCMP officer is standing with a crowd of people behind a commemorative monument. A plaque on the monument reads, "Sir Winston Churchill Avenue. On the 27th of May 1965, this avenue was named by Sir Ralph Perring Bt, at the request of the Mayor and council of the Town of St. Albert, with the grateful approval of Lady Churchill."
